"He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."

🔍 Exegetical Foundation "He is not here" (ouk estin hōde) uses the strongest possible negation in Greek - absolute absence. "He is risen" (ēgerthē) is aorist passive indicative - a completed action with ongoing results, and passive voice indicates God the Father raised Him. "As He said" (kathōs eipen) connects the resurrection to Jesus' previous promises - this wasn't unexpected but planned.

"Come, see" (deute idete) are both present imperatives - ongoing invitation to continuous observation. The angel doesn't just announce resurrection but invites verification. "The place where the Lord lay" (ton topon hopou ekeito) uses the imperfect tense for "lay" (ekeito) - He was lying there, but no longer. The tomb becomes evidence, not just location.

The shield isn't just protection from external attack but internal recognition that what was dead in you has been made alive. You don't fight for victory - you fight from victory. The tomb is empty, and so is every grave the enemy tries to put you in.
