🕯 Day 9 – Bring the Wood

📖 “They brought the wood offering to the altar.” – Nehemiah 10:34

🔍 1. Exegetical Read

In Nehemiah 10:34, the returning exiles commit to restoring not just the temple—but its daily function. They reinstitute the wood offering, a rotation of families assigned to bring fuel for the altar. Without wood, there could be no fire. And without fire, there could be no offering.

This wasn’t glamorous work. No one cheered for the wood carriers. But without their faithfulness, the visible acts of worship could not continue. Their task was quiet, regular, and essential.

Bringing the wood wasn’t about extravagance—it was about consistency.

🔁 2. Connection to the Week: Rebuild the Altar

This week is about realignment—and that includes your rhythms.

Too often we want the altar rebuilt, but we don’t want to carry the wood. Yet God’s fire responds to discipline. Prayer, worship, time in the Word, stillness before Him—these are your logs. They may feel dry at first. But dry wood burns best.

Don’t wait to feel inspired. Just show up. Carry the wood. Stack it in faith.

💡 3. Reconciling Moment

You don’t have to make the fire fall—you just have to bring the wood.

Your consistency is not wasted. Every time you return to the Word, every moment of quiet prayer, every surrendered yes—it’s fuel. And when the altar is full, and the time is right… God will ignite it.

Prompt:
What daily rhythms do I need to restore or renew?
